Quick Toddler Activity: Pouring

If you need to occupy your toddler for 15 minutes, give her something to work on! In this simple activity, you have two cups and something to pour. I used rice (although, don’t be alarmed if it makes a mess!) If you’re concerned about the mess, try something bigger like cotton balls or larger dried beans.

My 16 month old had fun with this. Once your kid gets used to the concept of pouring, you can move on to pouring water! If you dare…

This totally works! My almost 2 year old was entertained for almost 30 minutes last week by a muffin tin, a spoon and a cup of beans. It was awesome!

if you are worried about a mess get them to do it in a baking tray – easy clean up :o)

We’ve done this one before except with a bag of dried pintos and lentils that I usually use as weights for drying wet skeins. It helps with the mess if you put down a quilt or blanket on the floor first, so you can scoot all the beans to the middle at the end.
